Saudi Ministry of Water and Electricity Awards Axiom Telecom with “Appreciation of Support and Participation” Recognition
Award based on Axiom’s “Saudi Water Savers” campaign support
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Riyadh, 8 June 2010 Following its partnership with Ariel, LG and the Ministry of Water and Electricity (MOWE) in the “Saudi Water Savers “ campaign, Axiom Telecom received the prestigious “Appreciation of Support and Participation” award for its efforts to raise awareness of the importance of smart water use throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“Saudi Water Savers” is a Kingdom-wide campaign which aims to address the water challenge within the Kingdom, and to highlight the different ways that the Saudi population can help save water in their daily lives.
The Axiom Telecom team has pledged to support this campaign by utilizing more than 150 store locations throughout the Kingdom to highlight the campaign’s crucial message.
“At Axiom Telecom, we believe in continuously improving our surroundings, be it in the work place or within our community,” stated Faisal Al Bannai, CEO, Axiom Telecom. “The Saudi Water Savers campaign helped shed light on how much we can positively impact our community by lending our support to a cause that is sure to raise awareness on smart water use, and therefore help save water.” Al Bannai continued.
To ensure that the message is delivered, the Axiom Telecom team is communicating it in all possible interaction with their customers. From the moment they walk into any Axiom store, they are surrounded by the campaign’s message of smarter water usage, and while they talk to the mobile specialists, they will receive tips on this very topic. Once a mobile phone is purchased, this smart message is sure to be reiterated in the box.
“We are extremely proud to be recognized by the Ministry of Water and Electricity, and to have received this honorable recognition,” stated Al Bannai. “The efforts being made by all the parties involved in this campaign are truly admirable, and we are happy to be part of spreading the Saudi Water Savers campaign’s invaluable message,” Al Bannai continued.
The campaign is extremely important in light of the fact that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has the third highest water consumption rate in the world, following the US and Canada.
Speaking at a press conference held in Riyadh, Dr. Mohammed Bin Ibraheem Alsaud, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Water & Electricity for Planning and Development, said: “For the last couple of years, we developed educational programs throughout the campaigns we held to drive awareness on water wastage. Today we continue with the help of private corporations to encourage the population to be consciously aware of how they use this precious resource. This is a serious issue that requires every individual to participate and pledge to reduce water wastage and save water for a better tomorrow.”
Ahmed Al Shugairi, the Inspiring Saudi media icon known for sharing his ideas and thoughts with the whole Muslim and Arab world via the popular MBC TV show, Khawater, now in its sixth season, has volunteered to be a key spokesperson in the campaign and help raise awareness of the value of this precious resource via press articles. He is also playing an active role in encouraging Saudis to take a pledge on the ‘Saudi Water Savers’ website.
